#MeToo at Five: Anniversary Events
Listening Beyond the Hashtag: A ‘me too.’ Community Dinner
The 2022 anniversary theme, Beyond the Hashtag, is a collective vision setting. It allows us to dig deeper and go a step further into the lived experience of survivors and the conditions that enable our collective progressions as we work towards a world free from sexual violence.
To manifest this collective vision, we want to deepen our relationship with community partners and listen to the needs of survivors on the ground. This fifth anniversary, as we consider the progress of this global movement, we look forward to intentionally being in community, deeply listening, and aligning with survivors, grassroots movement leadership, and allies in the survivor justice movement.
Toward this goal, me too. International has planned three in-person community dinners throughout the year:
- October 28, 2022 – Philadelphia
- April 14, 2023 – Atlanta
- June 2023 – Chicago
Through our partnerships, we seek to bring local community members into one space to break bread, access resources and discuss survivor demands. We are excited to go beyond the virtual space and build our collective demands, which will be the rallying call for our mass action in October 2023.
Each gathering will include a free dinner, music, free swag, and dynamic discussion. In addition, each location will be handicap accessible and ASL translation will be provided. Onsite childcare and healing support will be available to those who need it at no cost.
