Free Lyric

As an impact producer, me too. International seeks to invest in value-aligned projects that support the disruption of rape culture, uplift survivor healing, and amplify the voices of survivors.

me too. International is proud to support Free Lyric by Cherish “Chez” Oteka, a Field of Vision Film. Set against the rise of social media, Free Lyric revisits one of rap culture’s earliest viral moments: the public shaming of a 17-year-old female rapper after a sexual confession spreads online. Through Niki’s story, the film explores gender, consent, and the early roots of online call-out culture — telling the story of a young woman who was cancelled before “being cancelled” was even a thing.

Bringing together dramatizations, archive, and observational material as Niki attempts a comeback, the film challenges our assumptions and complicity in social media scandals. Watch the trailer here.

“Free Lyric is such an important film specifically because it doesn’t just re-examine the particulars of what happened to Niki, but it gives us a raw, uncut look at how rape culture, racism and misogyny intersect to create the conditions for violence – particularly against Black women and girls.”

Free Lyric had its world premiere at Raindance Film Festival in London, and its U.S. premiere at 15th annual BlackStar Film Festival. The film has been met with warm reviews and enthusiastic audiences. Free Lyric will make its debut to global audiences on November 4, 2026. You can stream the documentary on the Field of Vision website and YouTube.
