me too. International launches “At the Core of Us: me too. International’s Political and Social Framework”
In recognition of five years of #MeToo, me too. International launches its political and social framework to provide a foundation and path forward for the survivor justice movement, its allies, and their communities. 

Five years ago, a global movement was reignited after 12 million posts centering #MeToo entered our digital spaces, and countless survivors came forward with their experiences of sexual violence. Today, me too. International is launching its social and political framework to explore, define, and dissect the conditions that allow for the prevalence of sexual violence and the broad survivor justice response to this crisis.  

The framework illustrates the power of survivors, survivor leaders, and their communities.  The document immerses readers in five key areas including: me too. International’s analysis of the problem, an envisioning of a world free from sexual violence, the work of me too. International, the values, principles, and policies me too. International is accountable to as an organization and movement, and the role of allies. 

“We want to speak directly to what we saw and heard in the aftermath of the 2017 viral moment,” says Tarana Burke, me too. International founder and chief vision officer. “Our framework is our articulation and our understanding of the breadth and depth of sexual violence and the survivor-focused and led solutions that it will take to combat the issue.”

This organizational framework documents and publicizes a survivor-centered lens through which me too. International makes plain the intersections of the survivor justice movement and how the disruption of sexual violence dismantles other systems of harm.

“We have all witnessed the co-opting of #MeToo for political, social, and capital gain,”  says Dani Ayers, me too. International chief executive officer. “No matter what they attempt to say about the ‘me too.’ Movement, the reality is that the hashtag was a pivotal, revolutionary moment built onto the decades of organizing around the fight to end sexual violence. Now, our success in releasing this grounding document to survivors, advocates, and allies is measured by the ongoing work it fortifies and the calls to action that it inspires.”
